    A member recently asked me how long she should "hang in there". Her manager has made many promises about increasing the scope of her job, putting her on new projects and getting her ready for promotion. None of these promises have resulted in anything tangible and this has been going on for two years. COVID was a realistic reason for some things being put on hold but there have been other missed opportunities where she feels she should have been considered. To my mind, it's time for a candid conversation in which she needs to get her manager to commit to just one action, with a realistic deadline. If this does not come about, then it's a clear message that the past will predict the future and that it's time to move on.
